GRIMALDE & JOHNSON, STRAND, N° 431

An elegant Regency period table clock in ebonised pearwood with gilt brass stringing and brass feet.

The 6 inch convex white dial is signed by the maker – ¬Grimalde & Johnson, Strand N° 431 – and retains its original blued steel hands and painted surface.

The good quality 8-day double fusee movement strikes the hours on a bell. The substantial brass back plate has an engraved outer border and is also signed and numbered by the maker. Unusually, the pendulum bob is engraved with a Tudor Rose in the centre.

Height: 12 in (30.5 cm) excluding finial
Width: 7 ¾ in (19.75 cm)
Depth: 5 ⅝ in (14.25 cm)

* Grimalde and Johnson are recorded as makers of great repute working in London in the first quarter of the 19th century. Their work was always of the highest quality.
